Back from new york

17.10.08

I am writing from the airport in Amsterdam where I have a stop before going back home. It is 8 in the morning; I didn’t sleep all night and feel very tired and exhausted. But the week was great! Before the workshop started I had appointments with Fortune Magazine, Newsweek, Sports Illustrated, Time Magazine, New York Times Magazine and Geo to show them my portfolio to hopefully work together with them in the future. On Friday the workshop started and it lasted 4 days. We were given assignments to shoot and in between many photographers were giving lectures. In the evenings at 11h30 many editors and photographers reviewed our portfolios and I never went to bed before 3h, while we had to start the day at 6h30. So I didn’t sleep much at all the last week. But it was definitely worth it and I learned a lot. At the end there was an award ceremony and I won the new version of Photoshop: CS4, which costs some thousands of Euros.
I have other great news: The magazine “Days Japan” is going to publish some of my Haiti pictures.
Amnesty International will make an exhibition of my work in Hamburg end of the year.
A NGO from Belgium will give me an assignment to go back to Haiti to shoot for them in March
