She smiles knowing that in Haiti if the baby is sick and the pig is sick, the pig gets the medicine. She survived by the grace of God. She now goes about life looking for food to share with her family. Cut feet from this trash will soon give her intestinal worms from the pigs, which will eat her food before she gets the nourishment. How can we just sit here? $1 will solve this inhuman condition. Just do it.

What is the most disturbing thing about yur image is that I have sitting in my files images from the very same area, of very similar children, pigs, homes and raw sewage that I phtographed more then twenty years ago- in the meantime I have worked to support health clinic for disabled children, put kids in school, haelped distribute medicines, nearly killed myself taking pictures I thought might stop slaughter and injustice, worked seven months straight to mount the 2006 elections . . . and Haiti (and those who observe her) keeps producing the same picture over and over again.
